runner-ups in the Regional NBC Tournament 4. Bill won his 1000th game as the Head
Coach of a Garden Of Gears Team on July 4th In Bisbee at
Warren Park. Warren Park was built in 1909 and is the oldest
continueing amatuer baseball park in America.
CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF AMATEUR BASEBALL Garden of Gears
The Garden of
Gears Baseball Club has been teaching baseball players the proper
way to play the game for over 33 years. Once an 18 year old Connie
Mack Team only, the Gears now have three teams, one each at the 18,
16 and 14 year old level.
The Gears have been directed by Coach Bill Moore since its inception. With over 35 years of baseball coaching experience, Bill has helped hundreds of players move into college and professional baseball, and as of the end of the 2003 MLB Season, 10 were playing in the majors. This is not to mention the many more who have moved on to have successful college careers. Bill is also a scout for the Seattle Mariners. The Garden of Gears' emphasis is on the training and development of the young player. As such, doing things "the proper way" is stressed at both practices and during games. Only by learning the finer points of the game will the player have the edge to advance. While the Gears have historically attracted some of the finer players in The Valley, it has helped many, many others achieve that level. The Garden of Gears' Teams are managed by coaches who either are or were professional baseball players and/or coaches, college coaches and high school coaches - NOT PARENTS. This not only assures the player of the best possible instruction, it ensures that the teams are NEVER a showcase for an individual player. Throughout the year, practices and mini camps are held that will feature professional players, scouts and specialists in various fields. With effort, a player will notice marked improvement in his game. Player evaluations are held on a regular basis, evaluating the same tools a college recruiter or pro scout would use. As players advanced through high school, guidance is given to those who wish to pursue their career further. |
